Welcome to the FitAfriq FAQ hub! We know that starting something new can bring up a lot of questions, and we’re here to put your mind at ease. From what to wear to what to expect, we’ve got you covered. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Don’t hesitate to [get in touch](link to contact page) – we’re happy to help!
We offer a vibrant mix of styles that celebrate the rich rhythms of the African diaspora and beyond! Our core classes include:
Afrobeats: High-energy and infectious rhythms.
Dancehall: Powerful, expressive, and full of attitude.
Amapiano: The smooth, soulful, and trendy sounds of South Africa.
Soca: The ultimate feel-good, carnival-ready dance party.
Beginners Salsa & Bachata: For those who love Latin flavor.
And more! Check our full, up-to-date [Class Schedule](link to schedule page) to see what’s on this week.
We offer the best of both worlds! You can drop in to any class that fits your schedule, or you can sign up for a course package (e.g., 4 or 8 weeks) to save money and see incredible progress as you build your skills week-by-week.
Wear something comfortable that you can move freely in! Think workout gear, leggings, shorts, and a t-shirt. The most important thing is your footwear: clean, non-marking sneakers or dance shoes are ideal. Avoid sandals or heels (unless specified for a specific class like Heels Dance).
Yourself, a positive attitude, and a bottle of water to stay hydrated! We also recommend a small towel. You’re welcome to bring a phone to capture snippets (with permission from the instructor), but we encourage you to be present in the moment.
For most of our classes (like Afrobeats, Dancehall, Amapiano), no partner is needed—you’ll be dancing on your own or in a group. For our partnered styles like Salsa and Bachata, it's helpful but not required. We frequently rotate partners in class, which is a fantastic way to meet people and learn!
Booking your spot is easy! You can view our schedule and securely book and pay for single classes or packages directly through our website on our [Book a Class](link to booking page) page. We accept all major credit/debit cards and mobile money.
We understand that life happens! If you need to cancel a pre-booked class, we kindly ask for at least 12 hours' notice so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. Cancellations made within this window will receive a full class credit. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged for the class.
We do not offer cash refunds for purchased classes or packages. However, we are happy to issue a studio credit for any cancelled classes that meet our policy (see above). All sales on class packages and memberships are final.
Your safety is our top priority. If you have a pre-existing injury or medical condition, we strongly recommend consulting with your doctor before attending a class. When you arrive, please inform your instructor so they can offer you modified moves and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience.
Our regular group classes are designed for adults (typically 16+). However, we occasionally run kids and teens workshops! Please check our Special Programs page or contact us directly for youth opportunities.
We do! Whether you want one-on-one training, a unique choreography for a wedding or event, or a fun team-building activity for your company, FitAfriq can create a custom experience. Visit our [Private Events](link to events page) page or email us at support@fitafriq.com for more information.
Yes! Our classes are a fantastic full-body workout. You’ll get your heart pumping, improve your coordination, and build strength—all while having so much fun you’ll forget you’re exercising. You can always go at your own pace and take water breaks as needed.
The vibe is electric, supportive, and joyful! We start with a warm-up, learn a choreography sequence throughout the class, and end with a cool-down. Our classes are a judgment-free zone where the focus is on fun, fitness, and expressing yourself. We cheer each other on!
Please aim to arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first class. This gives you time to find parking, check in, meet the instructor, get familiar with the space, and settle in without feeling rushed.
